Rev. Dr. Sargent Nelson
Rev. Dr. Sargent R. Nelson, Sr. is the son of the late George W. Nelson and Baby Ruth Joseph. Sargent holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from The Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) Atlanta, Georgia, a Master of Divinity, from The Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology, Virginia Union University, Richmond, Virginia and a Bachelor of Science, from Liberty University, Lynchburg, Virginia. He completed a one year Clinical Pastoral Education Residency at The DePaul Medical Center, Norfolk, Virginia. He is a Desert Storm veteran served ten years in the United States Air Force.
Dr. Nelson simultaneously served fifteen years as a chaplain for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Federal Correctional Institution Talladega, Alabama and the North Georgia Conference as a local pastor at the following churches: Cave Spring Circuit (Chubb Chapel and Cosmopolitan UMC) Cedartown, Shady Grove UMC Aragon and Griffin Chapel UMC Temple, Georgia.
Sargent strongly believes in the Wesleyan way of living.
